The fire broke out just after 2 p.m. at the Red Bridge Mobile Home Park in the 1900 block of Philadelphia Avenue in Greene Township on Sunday, Feb. 23, according to Franklin County 911.
Engine 45 was the first to arrive and found a single-wide trailer fully engulfed in flames. Deputy Chief 47, identified as Olson, assumed command as bystanders reported that two people might still be inside, emergency officials said.
Crews from Engine 45 and Engine 13-2 (Letterkenny Army Depot) launched an aggressive attack on the fire while conducting a primary search. Video from the scene shows an officer from Engine 45 and a firefighter from Company 13 attempting to locate an alternate entry point into an unaffected area of the home to begin the search.
Firefighters discovered a rear bedroom untouched by flames and quickly confirmed it was empty. The homeowner was not inside at the time of the fire, officials later determined.
The fire was knocked down and overhauled within two hours. One firefighter suffered minor burns to his shoulders during the initial attack and was treated and released from the hospital.
Fire police managed traffic along Philadelphia Avenue as crews battled the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
